Participants are internationally educated occupational therapists (IEOTs) who are eligible to take the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) certification examination and meet the language requirements of COTO. Successful completion of OTepp does not ensure recognition by relevant provincial regulatory body to enter practice.
OTepp is offered in face to face format in Hamilton, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia. Local supports may also be offered in Alberta and Manitoba. The needs of French speaking IEOTs will be met in Ottawa. Distance participants may join OTepp online.
Individual registrants will take part in an intake interview process to help determine which elements of OTepp are most appropriate for their needs .
In addition to assignments, participants will develop and maintain a professional portfolio throughout the course which includes their learning plan, evaluations and other material relevant to their learning and professional development. OTepp advisors will be available to assist in the provision of resources.
Participants who register to take part in the core curriculum will be expected to join two classes per week (3 hours each), spend an additional 12 hours per week on homework and assignments and meet the requirements of the course. Participants who do not meet this standard will be asked to leave the core curriculum program but may take advantage of the other modules.
